Colin Deamer

Photography has been a passion in my life since my grandfather with his Box Brownie, developing film in the kitchen sink and being fascinated at the image as they developed.  With my skill in arts and craft, which I excelled at in school, I have pursued photography and having sold my first photograph at the age of 16 my thoughts were always; ‘This is what I want’.

Working in the petrochemical industry gave me a good income and lots of spare time, which was put to good use in that I started up a small photographic business. Beginning of course with friends and family weddings.  However my passion is for landscapes and often in my extensive travels for the company I would take the picturesque route, rather than the direct one, to get the shot I wanted.

In 1997 having run my own successful photo and video business in the U.K.  I decided, while I was still young enough, to see more of the world and in 2000 I arrived in Cyprus having turned down the opportunity to live and work in Australia. I was immediately drawn to the Troodos Mountains with the crystal clear skies, clean air and dry atmosphere.  I fell in Love with Life again.  As a photographer I found enjoyment and pleasure living high in the Troodos mountains with the fantastic Sunrise and Sunset right on my doorstep.

For photography, Winter and Spring is Cyprus at it’s BEST, especially in late winter, with the clear atmosphere the blue black skies are the best I’ve experienced in the world.

After 18 months of semi-retirement my Wife persuaded me to open a Gallery.  I think it was because I had acquired many thousands of images and they were beginning to take over the house.

After using film, in 1997 I made a brave decision to go Digital.  I first changed my Video equipment and spent nine months revising my editing skill. With then the latest technology on computers. With the newly acquired skill my Video customers received the quality undreamed of in previous years, with 3D animation titles, films within films, editing becoming so easy to achieve, with excellent result.  Ten years on, again with latest technology in Photo and Videos programmes and the new processors & hard-drives, I can now edit up to four cameras at once, saving days of work, without loss of quality.

Again with my love and eye for photography I am offering my knowledge of Cyprus and skills in photography in short holiday in the friendly and picturesque mountain village of OMODHOS
